Today I had my very first karate lesson at The Midwest Karate Association of Saint Paul. After class, I sat down and conversed with the wife of the owner, Anita, and we had a really good conversation.
As with any kind of physical practice, I always inform them of my "medical condition" immediately, and the possible ways it might interfere with the class. Luckily, Anita actually knew quite a bit about vestibular disorders, and the only way in which it's impacted me is with my balance, something I know I can overcome through practice. (Ever since I went off of the Effexor back in 2009, I haven't had even one episode of vertigo, so there must have been a correlation.)
So I'm feeling pure elation after class tonight; I have a really good feeling about this entire thing. I totally made the right decision by deciding to pursue this right now.
I'll post some pics of my new karate clothes later, heh.
